Through its space safety & security activities, ESA is working to protect Earth the Pale Blue Dot from hazards related to space. This means protecting the inhabitants of Earth as well as the vital infrastructure we’ve built, such as satellites and power grids, on which our modern lives rely. ESA is in a unique position, with the cooperation and support of 22 member states and sites around the globe, to search for and assess dangers originating in space. Importantly, the Agency is now working to limit the impact or prevent altogether the hazards from risky asteroids, space debris and space weather, and to help make Europe more resilient to cyber threats.
